Media Walls in Garstang: Built-In TV, Storage and Warmth Done Properly

Garstang has seen a wave of homes — both new builds along the canal and refurbished older properties on Croston Road — choosing to bring their living rooms together around a single, considered media wall. Done well, it replaces three separate pieces of furniture with one calm, built-in feature. Done badly, it looks like a TV bolted to a stud wall.

Designing the whole wall as one piece

We treat the media wall as architecture, not furniture. The TV recess, electric fire, speaker positions, shelving and any concealed storage are designed together so the proportions feel intentional from every angle in the room.

Hidden cabling, sound and ventilation

All cabling runs inside the stud-work to discreet access points behind the TV and the AV cabinet. Where an electric fire is included we plan ventilation carefully so the unit stays within its safe operating envelope, and we coordinate with your electrician on a recessed fused spur in the right place first time.

Materials and finishes

We build in moisture-resistant MDF on a properly braced timber sub-frame, fill, sand and prime every surface, and finish in sprayed water-based eggshell or hand-painted matt depending on the look you're after. Panelled, slatted or flat-fronted detailing is all on the table.

Built in around the existing room

Most Garstang projects mean working around skirting, coving and existing power outlets. We scribe the cabinetry to the room rather than the room to the cabinetry, and finish to a paint-ready or fully-painted standard depending on what your wider decorating plan looks like.
