Restoration & Repair Work

Older homes need a careful hand. We carry out sympathetic restoration of period features throughout Cumbria, the Lake District and Lancashire — plaster repair, woodwork rebuilding, careful colour matching and the kind of finish that respects the age of the building rather than fighting against it.

Period restoration

Plaster and lath repair

Blown lime plaster is cut back to sound material and re-floated. We work with appropriate lime-based materials where the building needs them to breathe — not a blanket gypsum patch that traps moisture.

Woodwork rebuilding

Skirtings, architraves, sash window stiles, panelled doors — we can repair, splice or replicate timber profiles to match the original. Period mouldings sourced or hand-cut on site.

Colour matching to original schemes

We can sample and match original paint colours from older homes, or recommend appropriate period palettes from Farrow & Ball, Little Greene or Mylands FB heritage ranges.

Questions about restoration & repair

Do you work on listed buildings?+

Yes. We work on grade II listed properties throughout Cumbria. We're familiar with appropriate lime-based materials and the constraints of listed building consent.

Can you replicate original mouldings?+

In most cases, yes. We can source matching profiles, splice originals, or in some cases hand-cut a small run on site.
